VFX DemoReel

VFX composition
This was a composition I completed for the Griffith Animation School's student film Without a Trace. It involved creating a disintigration simulation using Maya's MASH. The rendered output was then taken to After Effects where I added particle effects, masking, film effects and colour corrected.

2D Image to 3D animation in NukeX
Using a 2D photograph I used a combination of camera-project cards and simulated camera movement to make the 2D image seem like a moving 3D scene. I also added animated elements like rippling distortion in the water, ducks, lens flares and particle effects to further sell the 3D effect.

NukeX Matte Painting
Using NukeX to track the original drone footage I generated a point cloud to map the environment, using the points to locate poistions for cards and geometry with projected images and videos to create the 3D effect.

VFX Composition
I initially used SynthEyes to track the provided drone footage, once the footage was tracked I could simulate a camera which allowed me to replicate the scene in a 3D space in Maya. From here I added 3D elements and projected sunlight and shadows onto the artificial environment. After exporting the rendered layers I used After Effects for visual touch-ups including the heat distortion effect and colour corrections.

NukeX Smart Vector
This was a smaller project I completed using NukeX's Smart Vector tech. Overlaying the green screen wound and colour-correcting in Nuke provided a realistic looking effect.
